I can't use a CPAP/BiPAP machine. I...Virginia,
I can't use a CPAP/BiPAP machine. I have persistent idiopathic facial pain and occipital neuralgia, and they preclude me putting any pressure on the right side of my face and the back of my head. It's hard for me to even lay my head on a pillow. Sometimes when the ON isnt' too bad I can sleep on my back, but not very often. I also can't do a dental appliance due to the fact that I'm a mouth breather. I did get one of those bed pillows that's really big like the back of a chair and has arms; I put that on my side of the bed and on the rare occasions I make it into the bedroom, I use that instead of a regular pillow now. I also doze a lot in my recliner. The neurologist is talking possible uvuloplasty but from what I've seen the laser version is pretty much out of the question and the one done in the OR is quite a procedure. I need to do a bit more research on that before making any decisions. I'm hoping maybe they will give me some Provigil...if I can stay awake all day, perhaps I will sleep better at night.Trishahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12631147253931042678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-295311920358032556.post-11250421932095386092010-07-05T17:08:38.319-05:002010-07-05T17:08:38.319-05:00So glad you are okay! Sorry to hear of your health issues! I am...Trisha,
Sorry to hear of your health issues! I am a cardiology NP and would like you to know that insurances no longer require the overnight sleep lab studies. The portable versions now qualify you for insurance coverage for obstructive sleep apnea. You should be able to get a CPAP/BiPAP through your insurance company using the one that was done in your own home. Yay you! You will feel MUCH better and it will decrease other health-related potential issues as well (heart attack, stroke, arrhythmia, hypertension, etc). Please speak to your healthcare provider asap about this! Best of luck to you.
VirginiaVirginiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15460466108869530323noreply@blogger.com
